Sherdog Profile

Pascal “Panzer” Krauss
(born April 19, 1987 in Breisach) is a German mixed martial artist who currently competes in the welterweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). His German nickname translates to ‘tank’ in English.
His martial arts education started at the age of fourteen when he picked up western boxing. He stayed with that for the next five years, winning a German junior boxing title and placing second in the international German championships.
When he stopped boxing, he eventually got into wrestling. His passion for ground fighting was fueled when he bumped into judo black belt Gregor Herb in 2007. After training with Herb for less than one year, he made his MMA debut in January 2008, submitting his opponent in the first round.

In the past two years, Pascal has added another eight victories to his résumé. His most impressive wins have come against BJJ European Championship silver medalist Gökmen Dalli and Serbian national wrestling champion, judo black belt and previously undefeated MMA prospect Srdjan Sekulic, whom he both finished in the second round.

On May 22, 2010, Pascal submitted previously unbeaten Scotsman John Quinn to succeed Dan Hardy as Cage Warriors welterweight champion.

In August 2010, Pascal signed a four-fight contract with the Ultimate Fighting Championship. He was expected to make his promotional debut at UFC 122 in Oberhausen, Germany against the likewise undefeated Kenny Robertson. In mid October, Robertson backed out of the fight due to injury and was replaced by fellow undefeated UFC newcomer Mark Scanlon. Krauss won the fight by unanimous decision and earned the “Fight of the Night” award. Krauss was expected to face John Hathaway on November 5, 2011 at UFC 138. However, Krauss pulled out of the bout citing a shoulder injury, and was replaced by Matt Brown. Krauss/Hathaway eventually took place on May 5, 2012 at UFC on Fox 3. Krauss lost the fight via unanimous decision. November 2012 Pascal moved to Milwaukee and joined Roufusport.  Krauss faced Mike Stumpf on January 26, 2013 at UFC on Fox 6. Pascal won the fight via unanimous decision.
